Spiritual thoughts are usually thought of when you think of religion. Most people have been brought up to believe that spirit is religion and cannot be separated.
This is not strictly true.
Up to a point they are, but you should not disregard your 'spiritual-being' if you are classed as a non religious person.
Religion is a way of controlling how you conduct your life. Your religious belief that has been instilled into you since birth can stay with you all through your life, or you can totally reject it once you become an adult.
Your spirit soul though remains with you until the day you die. You were born with a spirit. Your spirit though can be suppressed and stifled by your very powerful brain. You have been given this gift of life and a powerful mind, more superior than any other living entity.
Understanding the spiritual world we live in can help us understand fellow humans and the way the universe works. This understanding can help relieve stress in your life, particularly after a death in the family, a broken relationship or the loss of your job.
Why we have these powerful minds and yet use very little of them is still the subject of much research. It is thought that the average human only use's the minutest fraction of the brain they were born with. Even the worlds greatest scholars use very little more than that.
Your spirit is the unseen force that can drive you forward in life, if you let it. To become spiritual does not mean you have to believe in in particular religion. It does not mean you have to become a monk or a nun.
It means that you just have to understand the way life works.

How life works
To understand how life works you need to simply look all around you at the birds, insects, trees, flowers, weather, grass, cows, sheep etc. But DO NOT LOOK AT HUMANS. Humans represent a species that has evolved by brain power rather than nature and will give you the wrong basis for your spiritual self.
Every one of the items I told you to look at has one thing in common. They all develop according to the Universal Law
This Universal Law is the force that makes our world work the way it does.
The tree when it is just a seed, has 'treeness' built into it. When it goes into the soil it will grow into a tree. It will not become a flower. This tree will grow at a rate according to its 'treeness' original state, the nurishment it receives in the form of sunlight, air, food, shelter and water. Too much of any of these helpful ingredients will restrict or kill the growth of the tree.
The right balance of these ingredients will enable the tree to flourish exactly as it was intended to do. The flowers, and animals all follow this pattern of development in their time on earth.
A tree cannot grow faster than it was meant to by the Universal Law. Humans try and cut this Universal Law short by trying to have everything immediately. How many times have you said that you wish you could have a different body, different mind an immediate rise to the top of your profession.
This idea of wanting everything today is a human trait and goes away from the Universal Law. This then causes stress in us, because we cannot have something right away.
Trying to control people in your life is another way to create stress. If you have children then you will have a certain amount of control over them until they reach their teens. This control though should be based more on teaching them values, social etiquette, hygiene etc. rather than controlling them. Unruly children need to understand consequences rather than be given punishment.
| If you are in a relationship and you try and control your partner then you are on the road to a stressful relationship. Many times I have heard a person say about their prospective marriage partner "I will change them as soon as we are married". This is the road to a short lived happy marriage.
The child and your partner both have their own spiritual self, which may not align to yours. Understanding this and working with it creates a less stressful life for you. It does not mean you have to be controlled by them it means let them grow the way the Universal Law intended for their body and mind type.
How to understand your spiritual self
The first thing you can do is to find a quiet place where you will not be disturbed for some time. Sit comfortably and you could if you wish, play some quiet relaxing music, although it is not essential.
Whilst you are alone think only of nature, the birds, trees, weather. Always think of good thoughts. You have now just taken your first step towards answering these questions.
- Who are you
- Why are you here
- Where are you going
These questions are not for you to answer today, but simply thoughts that you may be able to answer over time. Thinking this way will take you away from your day to day worries and enable you to focus on the bigger picture life. What is your destiny? >>>
