Career and job searching can be fun or can be tedious. It usually starts out as fun especially if you have just left college or university. If you have to change jobs or your career because your life circumstance has changed, then it can become tedious.

Eventually even the fun part dies out if you have had no replies to your applications or have been rejected a few times. You eventually become drained and fed up of the whole situation. This could lead you to eventually accept a position that you really would not otherwise have chosen.

The usual way of searching for a new career or job is to send out your CV to as many companies as you can and hope you get a hit. The law of averages could work for you in this way but it is a lot of expense and hard work. Postage costs, envelopes and photo copying all add up.

Operating this way makes you the same as most of the others looking for a job.

You need to stand out from the crowd

Try thinking about your job application from the person at the receiving end point of view. They get many CV's in a month. The person designated to open the mail must get fed up of reading the same thing over and over again. It's no wonder it's easier for that person to either put your application in the bin, or post out the standard letter of rejection. Posting out 1000's of rejections though costs companies time and money.

Targeting your career application and modifying your approach via a personal letter is one way you could stand out. Further more detailed information on your new career can be found on my page career tips and you can browse through this bookstore or my other career bookstore
